The BT Celebration Dinner for ParalympicsGB

The dinner was part of a weekend of activity for the athletes which saw them ‘kitted out’ for the Games which commence on the 29th August.

Due to the athletes’ strict regime, they arrived to a soft cocktail drinks reception before being called through to join the evening’s celebrations. Having received a detailed brief from the camp’s dietician, Create worked alongside Channel 4’s ‘The Fabulous Baker Brothers’ to design a tasty menu without compromising the athletes diet. The menu included a starter of Broad Bean and Pea Risotto, Parmesan Crisp and Pea Shoot Salad. The main course was a Chicken Ballotine stuffed with Sage and Garlic served with Sweet Potato Mash, Broad Beans, Sweetheart Cabbage and Peas with a Mustard Crème Fraiche and finally, for dessert, a Butter Milk Pudding with Minted Strawberries and a Homemade Shortbread. The menu was served with homemade breads from The Fabulous Baker Brothers, delivered in from their Cotswold bakery that day and Create’s delicious Petit Fours – obviously in Red, White and Blue!

Entertainment for the evening included the Paraorchestra – a newly formed Orchestra showcasing the talents of musicians dealing with varying disabilities. In addition, sponsors Channel 4 provided the comedian, Paul Chowdhry and the event host, T4’s Rick Edwards – too many a lady’s delight! To complete the evening there was a Fashion Show exhibiting kits for ParalympicsGB 2012, along with archive kits from previous games.

This was a really exciting and inspirational event to be involved with and a truly fantastic way to kick-start the Paralympics.

“On behalf of ParalympicsGB I wanted to thank you for everything……The Team Launch was such a success! The feedback from our team members, athletes and support staff, has been so overwhelmingly positive. The whole experience was simply amazing.

Over the weekend the team came together to start the final journey on the road to the Games which start on 29 August. You and your colleagues played an important part in that experience so many thanks once again and we look forward to your support during the Games”
